We are seeking a Sr Manager Circulation & Logistics to oversee our regional distribution operations in Eastern Iowa. Reporting to the Sr Director of Print Production, this position is responsible for managing all newspaper & commercial print distribution services ensuring optimal delivery and operational efficiencies. Other responsibilities include:
• Leads and coaches the Distribution Center Teams and the Distribution Data Resource Team.
• Oversees the distributor and transportation contracts and vendor performance.
• Oversight of shipping and logistics for commercial transportation.
• Regularly monitor, update and optimize delivery and operational efficiencies.
• Responsible for workflow development (information and product) with Production to create efficiencies and error proofing.
• Maintains operations within budgetary constraints; analyzes costs and implements cost reduction measures as necessary; manages wholesale rate formulas, subsidies and incentive programs for independent contract carriers.
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics or related field with 6-10 years of operation experience with newspaper distribution/logistics and 7+ years supervisory experience; or 15+ years related experience in the absence of a Bachelor’s degree. Candidates must have excellent planning, staffing, and budgeting skill sets and be able to develop effective relationships and provide leadership as well as the outstanding ability to work well with and motivate people.
